/Ancillary task

Estelle has a simple yet effective design for her page. I wanted to take on this idea of having my artist BreBreRunway in the forefront as this when you are brought on to the page, she is the very first thing you are shown. This is a typical R&B convention, as it is solely to promote the artist, and this is what I would like to take on and use for my own artist.

I've also wanted to take on the idea with having her logo on every page, as a reminder that this is the artist's page.

Initial ideas for album cover

I took a lot of inspiration from Sam Smith's album cover, due to his use of colours. I think colours are extremely important as they are used to convey the message you are trying to transmit. This cover is very eye catching as you can see the silhouette of Asap Rocky in the background. Initially i wanted to do this style however I realised that especially in the R&B genre it is trying to show off the artist, and so instead of me having a silhouette of the artist, I would show them completely.

The album cover is very vibrant and appealing to the eye, the paint texture makes it looks like it has been done by hand. I figured out how to do this using photoshop however I used more of a paint splatter backgeorund with different colours.

I also used this album cover as inspiration as each colour represents something different, and it also represents the artists themselves.  I took on this idea and played with it, and I figured that the colours could perhaps represent the different emotions she's feeling, especially for our music video.

I also wanted to go for something quite simple, just so the artist could stand out. This is why i chose to have our artist's face in black and white, much like Estelle's cover, and the background in colour which connotes her vibrant personality. BreBreRunway and Estelle have similar style and musical taste and so I thought Estelle would be useful to use.

ALBUM COVER

Much like Beyonce's 'Crazy in Love', there are two characters in the video, however I would still like to keep the artist dominating, and so with the album cover, I could have had it likeJhene Aiko's bed peace, where she has herself and Childish Gambino, however I felt it would be more empowering to have our artist BreBreRunqay in the forefront to show it's all about her.

The background suggests they can overcome any problems, and they can put it behind them and move on, however our video will subvert this as on the outside they look like the can conquer anything, and are the power couple, however on the inside they are burning and it's killing them that they are losing each other.
